About

Hi, my name is Jon Cooley.

I teach web development and computer programming for my regular job, but also like to sculpt historical miniatures. I have been involved with historical miniatures since childhood gaming with them, painting them, and finally sculpting them. I got into sculpting a few years back after doing some figure conversions and then having some industry people tell me “hey, if you can do these conversions, you can sculpt”. My brother Perris (also a fine sculptor and painter extraordinaire) and I sculpted the 15mm Franco-Prussian line for Old Glory (19th Century Miniatures) and Perris also did the 15mm Austro-Prussian line for them).

Next, I tried moving up in scale to 28’s and loved it. I must admit that I really enjoy the greater detail at the larger scales. I am now doing some 54mm (really about 60mm) figures as well and enjoying it. You can see my first one under the Miniatures – 54mm category on this blog (a Prussian line infantry advancing at the trail right off a Carl Rochling painting).

So far, I have only done Franco-Prussian figures in 28mm and have many to go to complete the range. I love this period as the armies have such great variety and style and many of the early battles were large and much closer affairs than some think. I also deeply love the American Civil War period and hope to do some of these figures in the future.

Perris also likes these periods, but he also is very into the Byzantine, Mongol, and Crusades periods.

    When can we order these?

    • Hi Matt,

I am looking into to getting these produced so it will be a while yet. I’ll definitely let folks know through this blog and The Miniatures Page – 19th Century Miniatures section.
What particularly are you interested in with this range?

      Kind regards,
      Jon Cooley
